As a former archivist, let me repeat: there’s no such thing as “the painting remained safe under the glass capsule after the attack,” no matter how hard the media, who have zero expertise on the subject, would mumble it for you, usually quoting buzzwords from the museum workers who say such things with one purpose only—to be left alone and to start an immediate inspection of the canvas.
