Twin Peaks UK Festival (Saturday, September 29)

Впервые (или нет? я уже забыла) запощу мой апдейт о Twin Peaks UK Festival на английском (вообще, пора уже делать английские апдейты в блоге на постоянной основе, почему нет)
***
The oddest thing is that I nearly completely forgot about the upcoming festival and almost missed the dates: that's how your writing anxiety plays tricks with you and meddles with your normal schedule—I am certain that the most part of my FB friends can relate to these unpleasant things as well. Anyway, thank God for mobile reminders of various sorts: this time they were very helpful.
So, yesterday we prepared promptly and decided to attend the fest between 2-3.15 p.m.: mostly, we stuck with our plan, but our usual fight with train timetables slowed us a bit. The day was lovely, sunny and warm, we took our train to London and got out from Finsbury Park, an unknown area for both of us, then took a bus to the Irish Centre, Camden, where the venue was going on.
Boy, oh boy, was it wonderful and strange! We got our program for Saturday (sadly, we didn't book Sunday as well) at the check-in desk and started our Twin Peaks journey.
The venue represented a few of the most significant places for every TP fan: the Black Lodge (of course!), Great Northern, Roadhouse, Train Car, and Glastonbury Grove. To be absolutely fair, I felt uncanny entering the Red Room (I know, it sounds funny to many of you, sorry!): the subtle and eerie sounds of whooshing red drapes and the zigzags of the well-known patterned floor indeed gave me a bit of proper extradimensional vibes. Behind them, there was a sign “Mr C’s Tulpas Life Drawing,” where people were making sketches of tulpas projecting from the bright screen: perfectly spooky!
There was a gallery of excellent posters of the most essential Twin Peaks moments (Audrey’s “Isn’t it too dreamy?” motto, Philip Jeffries’s key monologue before his final transformation, “Well now. I’m not gonna talk about Judy; in fact, we’re not gonna talk about Judy at all, we’re gonna keep her out of it!” etc.) in the ground floor’s corridor: you can imagine that I wanted all of them immediately! Then, it was that cinema where you could see the fragments from Lynch’s films as well as amateur productions, and it captivated me (I had no idea for how long!): if not forget, I will post a short video about this later.
And then there were *the* actors aka Twin Peaks people! I told a story about my meeting with Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs) yesterday, and now it’s time for Lucy (Kimmy Robertson) and Tammy Preston (Chrysta Bell).
Long story short: they all are absolutely lovely people – nice, polite, vigorous, lively, courteous, and funny.
Kimmy is a charming miniature lady who looks— and sounds—exactly like her character in Twin Peaks. She came with a rucksack and a fluffy tail attached to it: you could imagine that Lucy would’ve done the same, of course! She chatted with her fans without breaks, being adorable and warm, and I saw some tears on the eyes of the people: it was extremely moving (yes, I know, I am very sentimental, forgive me, please!).
Chrysta is gorgeous; she was so stunning that people literally stared at her as if she were a goddess: when you see someone so beautiful, you cannot feel indifferent (I mean I definitely couldn’t!). Yet Christa also was super friendly and gracious, and fans talked to her a lot.
And then there was a glass box, which, as we all remember, was created by Mister C, a secret billionaire, for capturing Judy! And two organisers (or were they two Lodge entities) made photo-shoot inside the thing, and it was a fascinating end of this strange and unforgettable day.
Ah, and I can but not forget the Twin Peaks fans, of course! I’ve seen some folks whom I vaguely remember from their YouTube vlogs about the Twin Peaks universe (I believe I saw the guy vlogging for the Obnoxious&Anonymous channel), wonderful women and men wearing crazily imaginative and beautiful outfits (Blue Rose cosplay was one of the best: I also spotted a girl Wrapped-in-Plastic and several Tulpas of Diane). Thanks them a lot for creating that incredible atmosphere—and many, many thanks to the organisers of this major event: dear guys from Twin Peaks UK Festival, that was delightful! Hope to see you again, and less than in 25 years!
Meanwhile ©!
