I made a mistake and bought a kilo of apples two or three days go, completely forgetting how totally pointless in terms of *actual* taste they are in early June. So, baking Sharlotka, a fluffy apple cake from my childhood, was a no brainer. By the way, friends in the UK: Marks & Engels have released a special version of clotted cream for summer (never mind that summer is still basically non-existent here)—a Strawberry one (for scones, of course), and it’s positively divine. Pairing it with cake was a good idea, it seems.
