Larry’s 68 (En)

Guess what he did in the morning when I congratulated him? Of course, he showed me more of his art (a usual subterfuge to make me start with my standard wtfs), and for the first time I didn’t roll my eyes to the Moon and back, but appreciated it (well, as much as I could: at least, I tried). True that, he is very goofy, but I don’t know anyone else who would be this level of special—because there is no one out there who can be even remotely as amazing as him.
Despite his being so easy going, light-hearted and modest (and mind you, modesty isn’t a quality that is properly appreciated in our times of constant self-promotion), I do understand how incredibly gifted and insanely smart he is, and it makes me so proud of being with him: only recently a few people (who don’t know each other) have told me that his lectures, workshops, talks and books helped them to choose their own path in computer science: what can be greater than this level of acknowledgment and admiration? And he deserves every moment of this.
He became a Grandpa a few months back, and immediately another side of his loving nature and his kindness was unlocked: his little—our little, of course! (because she is absolutely mine, too, albeit not by blood)—Granddaughter aways smiles and calms down on his lap: one could argue that he was naturally born to be the most perfect Dedushka for the younglings, and this quality isn’t immediate for such high-ranked Professors and Fellows of the Royal Society.
Looks like those celestial guys sent the silliest and the loveliest of their kind to our messy Earth, and I am not mad at them for that. Not mad at all. Happy Birthday, my angel.
