Фактчекинг: казус импровизус

В общем, я как птица Крок из булычевской истории — нашла себе новую игрушку* — Media Bias Fact Check (типа, как Snopes или Blindspot в Ground News, но многажды объективнее!). Ну ок. Запулила туда Нью-Йоркер (старая любовь к умлаутам вместо дефисов в словах иностранного происхождения не ржавеет). 

Все выглядит красиво: несмотря на то, что источник “Left Biased based on story selection and editorial position that favors the left and High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing and a clean fact check record”, “factual reporting is High.” По-своему отлично же, да? 

Идем дальше. 

А что там, к примеру, с Quillette? А по Quillette результаты таковы (и больше никаковы):

“A questionable source exhibits one or more of the following: extreme bias, consistent promotion of propaganda/conspiracies, poor or no sourcing to credible information, a complete lack of transparency and/or is fake news. Fake News is the deliberate attempt to publish hoaxes and/or disinformation for the purpose of profit or influence (Learn More). Sources listed in the Questionable Category may be very untrustworthy and should be fact checked on a per article basis. Overall, we rate Quillette Questionable based on the promotion of racial pseudoscience and the use of poor sources.” 

Один из основных грехов Quillette — сотрудничество с Джорданом Питерсеном, который, конечно же, заклеймен сексистом, цитирую: 

“In another article, Jordan Peterson, And the New Chivalry they report favorably on Jordan Peterson who has made several anti-Feminist statements and has called for “enforced monogamy”, and “The people who hold that our culture is an oppressive patriarchy, they don’t want to admit that the current hierarchy might be predicated on competence.”” 

Впрочем, солидные фактчекеры похлопывают читателя по плечу, пытаясь подсластить пилюлю (ясное дело, сам-то гражданин читающий в жизни без посторонней помощи не разберется, что там к чему; какое еще образование? не фактчекер — проходи мимо): 

“In review, Quillette is a right leaning blog that features lengthy, well written articles. Headlines occasionally utilize loaded language such as this: Cowardice at Columbia. This story is also properly sourced to credible local media and provides video evidence.” 

Понял, юзернейм? Фактографическое такое фактографическое: сбоев не дает и работает исправно. А кто первый скажет про предвзятость, тот слишком много о себе понимает.
