“Persuasion” (Netflix, 2022)

Sadly, I saw the trailer, and my eyes and ears bled. Dakota Johnson (“Anne,” that is) could’ve been a perfect cast for Austen adaptations under different circumstances: her demure appearance and calm demeanour would serve the purpose perfectly. But nah: you saw a modern woman whose stylist did a lazy job to dress her in pseudo-Regency unfit attire, and who somehow cannot outgrow her “Gossip Girl” phase and what else American millennials call “iconic”— Nickelodeon? You get the point.
Also, why does nobody bother with the right accents anymore? Fair enough, we can only speculate how the gentry and upper class sounded in England in the first decade of the 19th century, but surely it wasn’t a SoCal twang.
TL;DR: if Bridgerton wasn’t enough, here is another version of the same thing made by entitled Redditors.
