The Poems of Elizabeth Browning: now in Cambridge (En)

Another Oxfam gem for a modest price (£7), the Albion edition (1892) of the Poems of Elizabeth Browning, a woman, whose talent greatly influenced Poe and Emily Dickinson. Her fame was somewhat overshadowed by her husband, poet Robert Browning (“I love your verses with all my heart, dear Miss Barrett, their fresh strange music, […], the exquisite pathos and true new brave thought”), but later on she was rediscovered by scholars and returned to her readers.
“You’re something between a dream and a miracle”.
