My dear friends, pals, acquaintances and fellow strangers, also readers of this blog, Happy New Year to you all!
2021 has been challenging (to say the least) and full of heavy ordeals sometimes; let’s hope that 2022 will be happier, jollier and overall luckier for us all!
• May your strength and stamina not fail you in the New Year;
• If you are an academic, a scholar of any sort (independent or otherwise), may the New Year bring you a heap of new, successful projects: may all your grant proposals succeed, your conference papers be accepted for publication just like that, without any intimidating intrusion from the wretched Reviewer 2, may your long-standing book proposals/scholarships/promotions be approved and may your students keep in their minds almost everything you taught them (ok-ok, this one is too unrealistic, but it’s nice to dream, right);
• If you have kids, may they remain the sunshine of your life and may they not be too annoying, having a meltdown or a teenage crisis;
• May your elderly parents be in good health and always return your calls;
• May your beloved pets stay as perky and silly as they deserve to be;
• May you all be loved.
I guess it’s not that much of a wish, and let’s hope it will prevail.
Have the greatest celebration!
Yours truly, Lena the Lovecraftian
