An update on Pickle (En)

We are back now from Dick White Referrals, a veterinary oncology clinic near Newmarket. Pickle was left there for CT scans: what we understood from a surgical nurse was that a CT scan would be necessary before any further medical interventions. They have to assess the stage of the tumour and then decide what to do next.
According to the nurse’s explanation, after the CT scan Pickle most likely will be put on medication which is intended to shrink the tumour, which will take a few weeks, and after that he’ll be ready for surgery in order to extract it.
It’s highly likely that radiotherapy will be the next step after surgery, but it’s not clear yet. More details will emerge tonight after they process the scans. If everything goes as planned we’ll collect him tomorrow morning.
To be continued.

So, we’ve been contacted by the same nurse who said that the CT scans have been performed, but due to the overwhelming schedule the oncologist can talk to us about Pickle’s treatment only on Friday.
According to her, Pickle responded to anaesthesia fine (there was a tiny risk in there: some cats’ reaction to anaesthetics can be quite bad), and we can collect him tomorrow at 11.30 a.m.
We are keeping our fingers crossed.
