Кромерские tutti quanti: ч. 17 (more Felbrigg Hall: misc.; En)

Then again, while at Felbrigg, we were blessed with spectacular weather, which made all our walks even pleasanter. Sadly, due to the aftermath of Covid, there weren’t enough volunteers to allow tourists to the first floor where the Grey Dressing Room, the Chinese Room with more exquisite Chinoiserie, and, especially, the Library are located: we left it for the next time.

The Felbrigg orangery and the orchards are opulent, with a versatile collection of plants, both common and rare for this part of the country (note to self: I don’t remember seeing such enormous artichokes anywhere else): the bees were buzzing, the doves (they have their own chateau, by the way: nice) were cooing, and the roosters were as audacious as one could imagine. But the sheep talking world problems outside the gardens made everything slightly uncanny: they did sound as if the House of Lords was having a turbulent time with another attempt at examining public policies.
As a person heavily interested in Goth, weird and wonderful, I wish we could see the display of the Curious Cabinets, with its tiny skeletons and dainty machinery, but it’s conceivable that they are under restoration. Anyway, given how many things should be explored, one must definitely go back there.
