As I’ve mentioned before, I’m no a paragon of virtue and I’m a bad example of a Christian, but seeing churches being used as venues and cafes doesn’t sit right with me. No matter how daintily you wrap this up, it’s deconsecration, of course.
Yes, I know that many churches run out of worshippers and don’t have a priesthood; charities try hard to preserve the buildings—I know all that. Sadly, there’s no adequate solution in here, but still: doing your mundane stuff inside a church, no matter how long it’s been called “former” isn’t great. I also think of it as a person from a country where the vast majority of them was destroyed and the tiniest part was used as warehouses or worse.
