On the 8th of March I want to wish us all to be free.
There is nothing more precious than freedom—of thinking, of choosing, of living. Don’t let anyone belittle your achievements, insult your intellect, or question your mental capabilities. “You do you” is a treasured formula in its utter simplicity: you don’t need to be reduced to one or two lousy characteristics, which are ok on their own, but have nothing to do with your complexity. Being a “professional,” a “beautiful girl,” a “mother,” an “intellectual,” a “geek/nerd,” a “childfree spinster,” or “that middle-aged woman with pets” is absolutely fine, but those who make these defining badges have to understand that there is much more going on behind the scenes, although it’s not your job to convince them otherwise.
You—we, women—have a lot to do with our lives; to look around seeking validation from people whose importance is non-existent is a waste of time. So, carry on, persevere, and attain your goals.
Happy Holiday!
